Makeup Essentials: Part 2 πŸ“

This is a continuation of the previous article - Makeup Essentials: Part 1.

Eyes
  • If you want to look younger (and let's be real - who doesn't?) use a luminizer in the inner corner, and brush it underneath the eye. This brightens the entire face. I recommend Urban Decay's Naked Skin Highlighting Fluid if you are looking for a product to use!

  • Soften and blend the edges of any eyeshadow shape you create with a sponge-tip applicator, eyeshadow brush or powder sponge. This creates a more natural look and blends out any harsh lines.
  • If possible, you should remove your contact lenses before working on the eye area and put them back when you're done.
  • Apply eyeliner as close as possible and even into the lashes to avoid the white line you get when liner and lashes don't connect.
  • Apply mascara before liquid liner to create a guide for the perfect cat-eye flick.
  • Pumping air into the mascara tube to get more product on the wand only dries the product out sooner. Try twirling it instead.
Lips

  • Lining your lips will prevent your lipstick from bleeding.

  • Use a lip brush to accurately shape the mouth as this gives you more control than using the tube itself.

  • If you want to find the perfect red for your complexion, try applying one lip colour that has the same undertone as your complexion all over the lip: Cool uses cool, warm uses warm. Apply a red with the opposite tone just to the centre for a lip that looks full and fantastic.
  • Pull your bottom lip down and look at the inside colour. Pick a lipstick shade that’s either lighter or a bit deeper but along the same tone as the inside of your lip. (Oh, and don’t do this in public!)
  • Dab a colour corrector all over lips to neutralize the lip tone and to make the lip colour more vibrant.
  • Putting powder over the top of the first coat of lipstick, then re-applying will help it last longer.
Eyebrows
  • Apply primer all the way up into the brows so your brow colour won't budge.

Finishing touches
  • Apply two shades of blush for the perfect flush of youth. Place pink or anything in the red family on the apple of the cheek to give the effect of blood coming to the surface. Peach, coral or anything in the orange family should be applied to the highest point of the cheekbone to give the effect of heat rising. BH's Blush Pallete  contains all the shades you would need.
  • Finish by bringing a matte bronzer to the skin where the sun hits the face - forehead, cheekbones, bridge of the nose and chin.
  • Always set your makeup!!! Too Faced Hangover 3-in-1 Setting Spray is a weightless, coconut water infused mist that primes, sets and refreshes makeup while keeping the skin hydrated. The probiotic blend hydrates and brightens skin, promotes elasticity and tone while smoothing skin. This product is perfect to keep your makeup in place all day, sealing makeup and locking moisture into the skin.
